After harvest, what is the procedure for the grain/flower/seed/leaves to be processed for flavours and fragrance making?

Rhizomes are processed to produce oil (sometimes converted into natural aroma chemical), then blended with other natural and / or synthetic fragrant materials to get flavour and/or fragrance.
